What an exciting official first day of classes! MVPS students will have the opportunity to view this rare Solar Eclipse on August 21st! Since student learning is our focus at MVPS, we encourage families to begin the school year with a day of exploration! These web pages have been created to help you begin your learning adventure.
Total Solar Eclipses occur once every one to two years, but are visible from less than half a percent the Earth's surface. This year, it will be view-able (if the the weather cooperates) coast to coast, This hasn't happened since 1918 and won't happen again until 2045!
This total eclipse will happen above Kansas! Northeast Kansas will have the best view as an approx. 70 mile band will have a total eclipse. Other areas in Kansas will be able to view a partial eclipse.
